A lawmaker, representing Lagos Mainland Constituency 2, Lagos State House of Assembly, on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Hon. Olanrewaju Oshun, has called on all citizens to troop out enmasse and register in the coming voter registration exercise billed to start on 14 January.
Oshun, Chairman, House Committee on Transport said this is the only way to check being disenfranchised in the next general elections.
The lawmaker who is also seeking a second term said the dream of Nigerians to have a vibrant democracy can only be realised when true democrats rise up to the task of rebuilding Nigeria’s polity.
“This is achievable only when Nigerians protect their votes and make sure that their votes count,” he said.
Speaking on his mission for the people of Lagos Mainland, Oshun stated: “I will not relent on my efforts to promote health-related issues, youth empowerment, as well as monthly financial assistance programme for widows.”
The lawmaker also commended Governor Babatunde Fashola for his transparency and people-oriented programmes in the state.
“It is pertinent to note that the ACN government in Lagos State is transparent and accountable,” he added.
He enjoined Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, to vote for credible candidates in ACN, the party with pragmatic and innovative ideas.
