Anti-Bomb Squad Stationed At MMIA

Following bomb explosions in some parts of the country, the authorities have stationed an anti-bomb squad at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport,  Ikeja, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

A top police officer at the airport who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to comment on the issue said the anti-bomb squad was  stationed there as a precautionary measure and to boost security at the airport.

Personnel of the squad were seen carrying out security surveillance of strategic places within the airport, including the presidential wing.

They were armed with metal bomb detectors which they used in checking every vehicles coming into the airport.

The exercise led to slow vehicular movement along the general aviation terminal.

Commenting on the exercise, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Airport Police Command, Mr. Moses Onireti, described it as a routine security measure  to save lives and properties, as well as change perception of foreigners about Nigeria.
