Pastor Drags Driver To Court

Pastor Muyiwa Ajayi of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Igando, Lagos has dragged his driver, Anthony Chibukem before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court,  Lagos, Southwest Nigeria for using his car as a taxi.

The pastor also alleged that Anthony, who he employed as a driver, in an attempt to steal his Toyota car with registration number LSB 315 KSF damaged it.

In his response, the accused claimed that the pastor did not pay him salary in December and he decided to use the car for commercial purposes to make some  money, adding that while doing this he had accident along Badagry Road.

When Anthony reported the accident to the pastor, he was dragged before the police at the Igando Station and charged to court on a two-count charge of  stealing and malicious damage.

The offences are contrary to sections 516, 451 and 508 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and the magistrate, Mrs. S.O. Solebo granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two responsible sureties.

The matter has been adjourned till 14 February, 2011 for trial while the defendants were remanded at the Kirikiri Maximum Security Prisons, pending his  fulfilment of the bail con0ditions.
