Four Suspected Rapists Charged To Court

Four suspects who allegedly raped a 20-year old girl (name withheld) have been charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for rape.

The accused, Adepoju Johnson, 29, Adeyemi Oladepo, 28, Soji Idowu, 20 and Ila Saheed, 19 were alleged to have raped the victim in a bush at Ijagemo area on  the outskirts of Lagos.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the victim was attacked and raped on 25 December, 2010 when he boarded a commercial motorcycle to take her home.

Instead of the motorcyclist to take her to her house, he droved her to a nearby bush in the area and invited five other riders to rape her in turns.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. M.B. Folami granted them bail in the sum of N250,000 each with two  responsible sureties.

The sureties, the court ordered, must show evidence of means of livelihood and payment of taxes to the state government.

The matter has been adjourned till 2, February, 2011 for definite trial, while the defendants were remanded in prison custody at the Kirikiri Maximum  Security Prisons, Lagos.
