Kano Charges Pillars: Kano Charges Pillars; To Retain DSTV Title

The Kano State government has urged Kano Pillars Basketball Club to work harder and retain their DSTV league title for the fourth time.

Commissioner for Information, Internal Affairs, Sports and Culture in the state, Barrister Haruna Isa Dederi, reiterated the state’s commitment to continue  to support Pillars, who have won the domestic league three times.

Though, Pillars failed to get pass the quarter-final stage of the 2010 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Men in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, the commissioner  still applauded their performance at the tourney.

Dederi however expressed thanks to Governor Ibrahim Shekarau for his support for the state football and basketball clubs since coming to power.

He hopes that Kano’s next governor who will take over the mantle of leadership come 29 May, will continue with the good work of Shekarau’s administration.

He urged Pillars to remain steadfast in the coming season of the Nigeria DSTV Premier League by defending the title won in Port Harcourt, Rivers State last  season.
