Former Nigerian international, Furo Iyenemi, has called on Nigerians not to put unnecessary pressure on the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia
The former Eagles’ defender, who is now the Director of Sports /Trainer of Antwerp-based Furowagas Football Academy, told P.M.Sports from his base in Belgium yesterday that Nigerians should not be in a hurry, adding that the coach would need time to rebuild the senior national team.
Iyenemi, a former Bendel Insurance of Benin defender stated that the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, took the right decision by appointing the former Heartland of Owerri coach, but wants the football authority to create an enabling environment for him to succeed.
On his assessment of the backline of the Super Eagles after he called it quit with the national team, Iyenemi said he can’t draw a comparison because the current crop of players in the Eagles are still young and would need an experienced coach to blend. He charged Siasia to scout for good players that would help him build a formidable team for Nigeria.
Iyenemi ruled out coming to Nigeria to take up coaching job in any of the national teams, adding that he is contented with what he is doing in Antwerp.
