Chief Timi Alaibe, the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs this morning defected to Labour Party and declared his interest  to contest the Bayelsa State governorship election at a well attended ceremony in Abuja.

Alaibe, who is currently in charge of the Amnesty programme of Federal Government for former Niger Delta militants, was received by Mr Dan Wuanyanwu,  Chairman of LP.

Alaibe, who has been a member of Peoples Democratic Party since its inception, also announced his withdrawal from the ruling party. Alaibe, who said he has  been discussing with the LP for sometime now, anchored his choice of the party on the fact that it has shown resilience while standing for the defence of  ordinary Nigerians.

He also noted that the LP has produced a governor in Ondo State who is delivering democratic dividends to his people.
