A lawmaker in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abdul Wahab Olawale Alawiye-King, has called on Christians to imbibe the lowly circumstances of Jesus Christ’s birth as they enter 2011. He also called on Nigerians, especially people of his constituent and Lagosians, to celebrate with moderation and motorists to avoid excessive speeding to prevent avoidable carnage during the yuletide.
Alawiye-King, who represents Lagos Island Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly and Chairman, House Committee on Education, in a statement, said “once again, it is Christmas, the season when Christians all over the world celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
“I rejoice with all our Christian brothers and sisters in Lagos Island Constituency 1 and wish you all a very fulfilling and pleasurable celebrations.â€
Beyond the fun and merry making, however, the lawmaker urged his people and Lagosians in general, to adopt the spirit of sacrifice and love to save their communitis and neighbourhoods from the menace of hatred, selfishness and intolerance, more so that the 2011 general election is around the corner.
