The Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Achebe, has challenged the management of Airtel Nigeria to make Quality of Service its watchword as it moves to reposition the newly rebranded network.

The Obi of Onitsha, who spoke when the management of Airtel Nigeria, led by its Managing Director & Chief Executive, Mr. Rajan Swaroop, paid him a courtesy visit, remarked that “as it is, no one would begrudge anybody his rightful profit if the quality of service is optimal”.He acknowledged the resilience of the company through several changes, and hoped that the latest change would be the last because, according to him, “the frequent changes do impact the operational stability of the business”.Dr. Achebe underlined the crucial role telecommunications played on the socio-economic development of a country adding that Nigeria is a good case in point with the rapid growth from less than half a million active telephone lines to over 70 million today.

The Onitsha monarch welcomed the new ownership and leadership of the company and prayed for the progress and growth of the company.

In his remarks, Airtel Nigeria’s CEO, Rajan Swaroop, thanked the Obi of Onitsha for blessing the Airtel brand just as he assured the monarch that the company is prepared to go the extra-mile in providing quality service for every Nigerian including Airtel customers in every nook and cranny of Onitsha.

He assured that Airtel will not only ensure exceptional quality of service across its operations in Nigeria but will also connect communities across the country by providing affordable and innovative mobile solutions to all.

He said as one of the world’s top five mobile communications companies, Airtel will deliver relevant and innovative mobile solutions to help people overcome their daily challenges, saying the company will be flexible; will be open and seek to understand people’s needs in Onitsha and across the Nigerian nation.

“I believe that the new Airtel brand will become the most loved in the daily lives of the people of Onitsha and Nigeria – a brand that will change people’s lives for the better; a brand that will give people the freedom to achieve their goals through mobile communications that are innovative, relevant and affordable.

“With the Airtel Brand, personal freedom, opportunities for growth, tools to help individuals reach their personal goals and economic development across the nation are some of the benefits that will accrue from wider connections to affordable mobile communications across Nigeria,” said Swaroop.

Beside the provision of quality network service and affordable value offerings, Swaroop added that Airtel will also provide investment in communities through education of underprivileged children.

He said the company understands that education is the most fundamental of any development, because without education no meaningful progress can be achieved by any nation.

“We recognize that government needs the support of private sector; therefore, Airtel will assist in the rehabilitation and construction of primary schools, provide furniture, uniforms, and scholastic materials and organize training for teachers based on school specific needs.  We will work with various education agencies, non-governmental organizations, International Partners and employees for the sustenance of the education programme in Nigeria,” he said.
