4 Charged With Theft

Men of Alade Police Station, Somolu, Lagos, have arraigned four men before a Somolu Magistrate’s Court for stealing confectioneries worth N95,200.

Those arraigned include Wasiu Ajani, 19; Ibrahim Gbadegesin, 21; Ibrahim Oderinde, 19 and Sulaiman Alabi, 19.

The accused persons, who are facing a four-count charge of felony, threat to neighbourhood, stealing and intention to cause felony, were said to have committed the offence on 26 November, 2010.

They allegedly stole confectioneries at a shop on 14, Morroco Road, Somolu. While the items allegedly stolen by accused include five packs of can malt valued at N12,000; three packs of Mr. Cream valued at N4,800; two packs of Youghourt valued at N2,000; two packs of Caprisona valued at N3,300; two packs of Swamp Milk valued at N2,000; five plastic chairs valued at N2,000; a carton of Don Simon valued at N3,600; one pack of Power Horse energy drink valued at N5,000 and recharge cards worth N60,000.

The offences, according to Mr. Adegoke Akinlabi, the prosecuting police officer, are contrary to Section 516, 417 (g), 390 (9) and 69 of the Criminal Code Cap. C.17, Volume 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

They pleaded  not guilty to all the charges and were granted bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one responsible surety by Mrs. B.O. Osunsanmi, the presiding magistrate.
