A 22-year old Ogundeko Abiola has been arrested and charged to Shomolu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State, Nigeria for theft.
According to the police prosecutor, the suspect allegedly stole one Nokia phone 5100 valued N12,000 and N20,000 belonging to one Mr. Thomas Adegbenro on 13 December, this year, at about 9p.m at Kajola street, Lady-Lak, Bariga, Lagos.
P.M. NEWS gathered that Mr.Adegbenro was coming back from work when three men accosted him and dispossessed him of his phone and cash, but he was fortunate to get sympathizers who captured Abiola, while others escaped.
He was dragged to Shomolu Police Station, Pedro division and after police investigation, Abiola was arraigned in court on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit felony with intent to steal.
The offences, police said, are contrary to and punishable under sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap C 38. Vol. II Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The suspect pleaded guilty and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. B.O Ogunsanmi, adjourned the case till 12 January, 2011 for facts and sentence
