The Coalition of Oodu Self Determination Groups, COSEG, has commended the exemplary leadership qualities of Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State.
Addressing journalists after a meeting of COSEG and ethnic nationality groups in Lagos, chairman, coordinating council of COSEG, Comrade Dayo Ogunlana congratulated Fashola for his excellent performance in Lagos.
“The conference singled out Governor Fashola for praise on his excellent performance in Lagos. The conference noted that he has changed the face of Lagos.
“We observed in him the zeal and enthusiasm to perform and work assiduously to make Lagos a better place to live and do business.
“We commend him for the various revolutionary policies being implemented so that our people can reap the dividends of democracy in Lagos,†Ogunlana stated.
COSEG also condemned the attempt by some so called progressives to frustrate Fashola’s bid for a second term in office.
“We wonder how the Action Congress of Nigeria, AC N leadership will explain his replacement to Lagosians in particular and Nigerians.
“What must be noted is that nobody fights against the people and win.
“We want them to know that election is not won in Lagos by politicians alone but by a coalition of progressives that include the self determination groups, civil society groups, ethnic nationality groups, religious groups, professional bodies and artisans,†COEG stated.
The group also called on youths to participate fully in the 2011 elections. It called on President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure that the peoples’ vote count this time around.
COSEG commended the governors of Ogun, Ondo, Edo and Akwa Ibom for staying focused despite intimidation from a few party members.
