The Somolu chapter of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), has refuted the allegation made by members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Somolu branch, that the group is planning to cause trouble at different units of the union in the area.
The union had allegedly written a petition to inform security agencies in the state that the OPC intends to cause problem among their members.
The union, in a letter signed by Alhaji Mukaila Rusewe and Abiodun Awotubo, chairman and secretary respectively of Somolu branch and sent to the police, it was alleged that the group had concluded plans to use the impending crisis to disrupt the forthcoming elections.
In a swift reaction to the allegation, the OPC denied the claim in its totality, saying that as a socio-cultural organisation, it is interested in the pacific state of Yorubalnd and will not renege in the promise to make Yorubaland a peaceful place on earth.
The OPC, in a letter of appeal to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, signed by Comrade Razak Arogundade and Soji Folorunso, the local government coordinator and secretary respectively, urged the state government to investigate the allegation, meant to give a bad name to the group.
In the petition, the group stated that it is not a terrorist organisation and would be unfair to be seen as that as claimed by the NURTW.
