Students and coaches of the Pepsi Football Academy, PFA from different training centres across the country are expected to arrive the Pepsi Football College, Irile-Imo, near Sagamu, Ogun State on Sunday, 12 December, 2010 for this year’s Pepsi Festival of Youth.
The football festival will feature students from Nigeria’s pioneer football academy in the U-13 and U-15 categories participating in different football competitions,  picnic and visit important historic monuments in Lagos and Ogun States.
Director of Pepsi Football Academy, Dr. Kasimawo Laloko said the students will be grouped into five-a-side and seven-a-side teams for the three-day competition, which ends on 16 December.
He said the objective of the competition is to give the coaches in the Pepsi Academy the opportunity to assess the skills development of young lads through competition. “You cannot continue to teach a child without giving him opportunity to test his skills through examination. He will be frustrated if you don’t do that,†Laloko said.
Commenting on the Pepsi Festival of youth, Mr. Iain Nelson, Consultant to Pepsi Football Academy said, Pepsi, through the Academy will continue to discover and nurture Nigerian youngsters.
