Hon. Bolaji Yussuf Ayinla, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has  declared his intention to represent Mushin 02 Federal Constituency in the lower  chamber of the National Assembly in 2011.

BYA as he is fondly called by admirers said that if given the opportunity, he will  use all that is within his capacity as a lawmaker to bring the dividends of  democracy and federal presence to the constituency.

The two term member of the Lagos House of Assembly and the Chairman of House  Committee on House Services assured that he is not going to Abuja to add to the  population of the lawmakers, but to represent the interest of his people.

“I have not, and the people of my constituency have not, felt the impact of the  lawmaker currently representing them at the National Assembly.

“They have not felt the federal government’s presence in terms of education, health  and infrastructure. What the constituency demands is better representation hence my  decision to offer myself for service to the people.

“Legislative is all about lobbying it is about pure advocacy, you must be able to  talk, you must be able to challenge, defend and work tirelessly for your people to  secure their needs.

“But in a situation whereby you have a ‘siddon look’ representative, you won’t be  able to enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he said.

Speaking on his experience as a member of the Lagos House of Assembly, BYA said, “I  have done much and I can still do more, but I believe two good terms deserve  elevation. I think I am better qualified to represent my constituency at the federal  level. By this, I mean the House of Representatives.

“I want to replicate what I have done for Mushin Constituency through the Lagos  State government at the federal level.  Mushin certainly deserves the presence of  the federal government in term of infrastructure. I have not seen much of that in  the last few years. I want Mushin Constituency 02 to have its own share of  employment and provision of infrastructure.

“Legislature is about efficient and effective advocacy to represent your people at  all times. And that is what I intend doing when I get to the House of  Representatives in 2011,” he assured.
