Grassroots Soccer Developers Association of Nigeria GRASSDON has promised to make CÂ Woerman Youth Football Championship a national tournament in the next edition.
Managing Director of C.Woermann (Ng) Ltd, Axel Kuppe, said this after C Woerman Football Club from Enugu State defeated BIG Football Club from River State 1-0 to lift the trophy. The tourney was held recently at the Astro Turf of the National Stadium.
Kuppe said that plans are underway to make it a national championship where teams will be selected from across the six geo-political zone of the country.
“Having come this far, I have seen that this tournament which we started as part of our corporate social responsibility has become a breeding ground for talents. We will look at making it a national championship in the next edition,†he said.
The National Co-ordinator of the Body, Ossy Nwokeabia, said that the body is determined to develop football at the grassroots.
