A survey on the interaction between residents of Surulere Local Government and their representatives in the House of Representatives has returned a damning verdict.

According to the survey released by the Lagos-based research firm, Twytes Associates, the lawmakers – Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila (Surulere I) and Hon. Akeem Arole Fancy (Surulere II) residents scored them above average in their lawmaking assignments.

The survey noted in particular that Gbajabiamila in particular performed well on the floor of the House, with Arole Fancy trailing him substantially.

Residents, however, rated the two low in the area of interaction with their constituents, saying that they have been “too far” from the people they represent.

According to the survey, though the people say that Gbajabiamila and Arole Fancy visit their constituencies, both have failed to meet them regularly since getting to office.

This, they said, has deprived them the privilege of making inputs into the plans of their representatives in Abuja.

On whether they want the duo to go for a third term, the survey said over 80.1 per cent of the people said an emphatic “NO”.

They reasoned that as a cosmopolitan local government, the area parades an array of intelligent, vibrant and pro-active people who can do them proud.

Consequently, they said new representatives should be picked among these set of people to enable them experience their wealth of experience.
