Former Nigeria Premier League, NPL champions, Bayelsa United are on the brink of going moribund unless sweeping changes are made in the fold.

The club, in dire financial straits may not take part in the Professional League, Nigeria’s first division competition, which gets underway tomorrow.

The former media officer of the club, Ebi Avi said the former champions are currently passing through their worst phase as a professional outfit.

“This is about the worst period for this club. Players are owed almost two years sign on fees. And nothing is being done,” Avi said.

Avi also noted that unless swift moves were made by the club’s sponsors, the club could be in for some very difficult times in the days ahead.

“If we are not careful, this club will no longer be in existence.
