Sports Festival Zonal Elimination Begins Today

The Zone 1 Elimination tourney for the 2011 National Sports Festival begins today in Sagamu and Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria.

The elimination will see the host, Ogun, Lagos and Oyo States competing for the sole ticket in Football, Basketball, Abula, Hockey, Volleyball and Handball.

According to the fixtures released by the Technical Committee of the elimination series, the Lagos male football team will take on their Ogun State counterparts this evening at the Gateway International Stadium, Sagamu.

Head coach of Team Lagos, Lukman Osun said the team are set for the task ahead.

He assured Lagosians of his team’s readiness to do the state proud in the competition.

“We have been working for the past three months with this team, and now is the time for the players to put what they have learnt into action. I’m sure of getting the three points at stake in our match today,” the former First Bank Coach and striker said. Meanwhile, The female football of Lagos defeated Ogun 3-1 in their first match early today.
