A People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Owolabi Salis, has debunked a newspaper report alleging that he had been meeting with the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to curry his support for the replacement of the incumbent Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola.
He described the allegation as false, malicious, wicked and a deliberate fabrication aimed at tarnishing his image by putting his loyalty to the PDP to question.
“I see it as the machination of the diabolical agents of anti-progress, who are jittery and panicky of my political presence and the immense stride accomplished in my avowed vision to mobilise and sensitise the massive number of the downtrodden for a fundamental transformation aimed at ushering an egalitarian sociopolitical order for the state and the teeming lots of its progressive populace.
“At no time did I sit with anybody in the ACN either in secret or in the open, to negotiate for any political advantage whatsoever and, of course, one would have expected the peddlers of such misinformation to answer for themselves, when and where the meeting had transpired and the precise particulars of the discussion.
“Let me seize this opportunity therefore, to emphasise with every conviction I could muster, that I remain more than ever before with the PDP, whose dream and aspiration I cherish and identify with, while I pledge, without any shred of equivocation, to utilise the benefit of my God-given talent, endowment, experience and exposure towards the consummation of these ideals,†said the Wall Street, New York, USA attorney and management consultant.
He urged his teeming supporters, admirers and well wishers all over the state and beyond to remain steadfast in their sure and steady drive to eventual victory.
He also emphasised the need for the people to close ranks and forge towards unity which is salient for triumph in next year’s general elections, which ushers in a new political dispensation to the glory of God, the nation and its progressive people.
