Glo Mobile has emerged first in the latest audit of mobile telephone service providers in the country, maintaining its position as the best telecommunication company in Nigeria.
The latest Network Audit independently carried out and published in the latest edition IT/Telecom news magazine, IT Edge, showed that Glo was rated best among GSM operators in the third quarter of 2010.
In the survey, Glo scored a total of 47 points out of a maximum 55. MTN came second with 46 points, while Zain came third with 42 points. Etisalat finished fourth with 41 points.
The national operator came tops in nine of the eleven performance indices used in assessing the performance of all the GSM companies. These include Signal Strength, Call Success Rate, Call Drop, Voice Response Time, Voice Quality to Downlink, Successful Recharge, Value Added Services (VAS), Internet Services and Call Centre Operations. The company came second in the tenth and eleventh test categories, Voice Quality to Uplink and Successful Enquiry,
The research was carried out by IT Edge Intelligence Unit and Jidaw Systems Limited. IT Edge Intelligence Unit is a research arm of IT Edge magazine, while Jidaw Systems is a leading IT training, research and consulting firm in Africa.
Globacom’s overall success in service delivery and product innovation stems from its deployment of superior technology. It was the only operator in Africa to launch its operations on the 2.5G technology and also the first to commercially launch the 3G technology. The robust platforms ensure voice clarity and low drop calls and also enable the offering of innovative value added services.
