The FCT Chairman of ACN, Mr. Sunny Monidafie, on Sunday in Abuja urged Nigerians to  be supportive to opposition parties toward change in 2011.

Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Monidafie said that opposition parties  could not do anything except the people changed their mindset to effect change in  the country.

“It is wrong for the Nigerian people to think or say that opposition parties cannot  defeat the government in power.

“Opposition parties cannot do anything to effect these changes we need except the  people change their mindset. The strength of opposition parties lies with the voting  populace.

“Opposition parties do not operate in isolation but in a society. They criticise the  government policies and proffer alternatives for such policies,” he said.

Monidafie said that in as much as he condemned violence in politics, he advised that  violence should not serve as a deterrent toward the building of the nation.

”Violence should not allow us let our country collapse, Nigerians should shun fear.  Unless we go out to vote, we are building toward the collapse of our nation,” he  said.

On the party’s membership registration drive, the Chairman said that ACN was  performing very well in the states.

“There’s much enthusiasm at the membership registration centres because of the  influx of people from other parties; it is the reason we extended the time and  shifted our congresses.

The Abuja ACN chairman confirmed that the party’s congresses would begin toward the  end of November.
