Mr. Funmibi Olawoyin, the FCT Sector Commander of FRSC, has confirmed the death of one person in the ongoing fitness exercise for applicants seeking recruitment into the corps.
Olawoyin told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Thursday that the applicant, who died on the first day of the exercise, slumped and died 10 minutes after he had completed his fitness test.
He said medical personnel, who were on hand for any emergency, discovered that the applicant, whose name he did not mention, had asthma and other health challenges.
Olawoyi maintained that the deceased failed to disclose his health status before embarking on the exercise.
He said that the development had forced the FRSC medical personnel to examine other applicants, who turned up for the test to forestall a recurrence.
Olawoyi advised all those not fit to withdraw from the fitness test.
