In his effort to ensure that the people of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, South West Nigeria, enjoy electricity without interruption, the chairman of the council, Mr. Taofeek Adaranijo, has donated a 500 KVA transformer to the residents of Olabua area of the council.
Donating the transformer, Adaranijo said it is in fulfilment of his electioneering campaign promises to the inhabitants of the area and his little way of contributing to the mega-city project going on in the state.
He urged the beneficiaries to protect the transformer from vandals, who may want to sabotage government’s effort in making life more meaningful to its citizens.
The council boss advised them to form a security group that would ensure adequate protection of the transformer and other amenities provided by government.
Some of the residents that spoke with Lagos Bulletin thanked the chairman for the gesture, saying it would put an end to the activities of hoodlums in the area as their hideout will be exposed.
Apart from this, the residents also said the transformer would boost social and economic activities in the area.
“This is part of the good things we expect from those we elected into power. More of this should come from them and it is then we can trust them with our votes,†noted one of the residents.
Lagos Bulletin learnt that the transformer will serve over 10 streets in the area.
