At 32, Joseph Adediwura had lofty plans for his future; a marriage before the year ends, a business trip to France on 14 November, 2010, among other plans. However, all that may not happen again as he was found dead in his car in front of a medical centre located at Plot 4, Eddy Onugha Drive, College Bus Stop, Okota, Lagos last Wednesday by members of his family.
Joseph was said to have visited a female friend, Mariam, alleged to be his girlfriend on the same street with the hospital on the fateful day.
According to the elder sister of Mariam, her sister left home about 40 minutes earlier and when she did not see her, she went looking for her and met her in front of Plot 2A, Eddy Onugha Drive, Okota, in the late Adediwura’s car with both of them gasping for breath.
She told P.M.NEWS that she met the door of the car locked and had to break the widescreen to rescue them and take them to the hospital.
Commenting on the death, a medical doctor, Dr. John N. Enebeli of the SAN Pedro Specialist Medical Centre, said Adediwura was brought to his hospital dead at about 11.40 p.m on Wednesday, 3 November, 2010 with Mariam bilaterally dilated. He said he discovered that both Adediwura and Mariam drank a poisoned orange juice.
There was, however, a twist to the development at the Okota Police Station where the deceased was taken to when the police discovered that late Adediwura was hit on the back of his head and blood was gushing out.
Both Mariam’s sister and the doctor have been arrested by the police at Okota Station and the case transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, Panti for investigation.
P.M.NEWS gathered that the corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the Isolo General Hospital mortuary, while his family awaits the autopsy before his burial.
Frank Mba, spokesman of the state police command, confirmed the incident and promised that the police will get to the root of the matter.
