The Olu of Epe Kingdom, Oba Sefiu Olatunji Adewale has called on the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola to extend the Ibeju-Lekki expressway to his domain in Epe as part of the state’s development plans.
The monarch made this appeal while paying host to a delegation of Nollywood actors led by Adebayo Salami, a.k.a. Oga Bello during a courtesy visit to his palace.
According to the monarch, “since Epe town is the recognised headquarters of Epe division in the state, such a project should be extended to the area.â€
He complained that the concession project which started from Lekki should not have stopped at Ibeju, a stone throw from Epe.
Oba Adewale, who admitted that toll collection is not strange anywhere in the world, however, called for an enlightenment programme to sensitise the public about the significance of such a laudable project.
Earlier in his speech, the leader of the delegation, Salami told the monarch that because of their roles as opinion moulders in the society, the purpose of their visit was to sample his feelings about the activities of the government in his domain with a view of conveying it to the public through their professional medium.
He agreed that the Lekki-Epe axis concession project was not new but pointed out that the government needed the support of the people in its quest to deliver the dividends of democracy to them.
Other actors in the delegation included Ayo Badmus, Lanre Hassan (Iya Rainbow), Remi Surutu, among others.
Communities visitied during their visit are Abegede, Abijo, Eleran-Igbe, Sangotedo and Lamgbasa.
