There are strong indications that the Zone 3 qualifiers for the FIBA-Africa Club  Champions for Women will be hosted in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria later this month.

Basketball Timeout gathered that the qualifiers, which will produce the two  representatives from the zone for the FIBA-Africa championship, will be bankrolled  by First Bank Basketball Club of Lagos, who are the current holders of the cup.

It was gathered that First Bank agreed to take up the bill of the tourney, when  the  Nigerian-born President of the zone, Muktar Khaleh, failed to get other countries in  the zone to host the qualifiers.

Nigeria will be represented by the league’s defending champions First Deepwater  Basketball Club and Sunshine Angels Basketball Club of Akure, Ondo State, that will  replace the runners up, First Bank Basketball club, the hosts.

Apart from Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin Republic, Togo, Liberia and Ghana amongst  others are expected to send two representatives each, while the two finalists pick  the tickets for the continental battle later in the year.
