Federation Calls 24 Players For Camping

Nigeria Cricket Federation, NCF has released the names of invited players to the  national U-15 team for camping ahead of the ICC-ACA North-West Africa Tournament,  which holds in Nigeria next month.

General Manager of the federation, George Wiltshire, said  the players were selected  for a close camping  after four days of screening at the Tafawa Balewa Square  Cricket oval, Lagos, Southwest, Nigeria.

The former Nigerian international said 24 players were invited for screening, while  16 scaled the hurdles of the exercise.

According to him, “24 players were invited for the screening exercise. 10 each from  Lagos and Ogun States, Anambra has 2, while Rivers and Kaduna States have one player  each,” he said.

“We had trials for them on Friday, where we screened their  birth certificates and  international passports to ensure that no player is above the required age limit  approved for the competition, said Wiltshire.

“These 16 players will be camped in Ibadan, but the list will later be pruned to 12  players, who will represent the country. We expect them to resume for camping on  18  November,” he said.

The names of the players, according to Wiltshire, are Afeez Obisesan, Teslim  Owolabi, Daniel Ajekun, Mojeed Adiamo, Olumide Adeleke, Samuel Adeleke, Sesan  Adedeji, Ayomide Adesina, Samson Emmanuel and Kunle Awosanmi.

Others are Rilwan Oyenuga, Mustapha Yusuf, Kelechi Duru, Henry Oko-jaja, Chisom  Adaogu and Seun Ekundayo.

Wiltshire disclosed that six North-West African countries will take part in the  tournament slated for 4 through  7 December.

The countries participating are Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Sierra-Leone, Cameroon, Mali  and Morocco.
