Nigeria’s NBBF/DSTV Basketball Premier League champions, Kano Pillars and the runners-up, Royal Hoopers of Port Harcourt continued their impressive outing in the ongoing FIBA-Africa Champions Club for Men Zone-3 Club Qualifiers in Monrovia, Liberia.
Pillars defeated their counterparts from Togo, the Swallows by 64-50 points, while Hoopers, who are making their debut in the tournament, beat former Liberia League champions, NPA Pythons 73-61 points. Hoopers and Pillars won their first matches in the qualifiers holding inside the SKD Sports Complex gymnasium, Monrovia.
The performance of the two Nigerian clubs have put both sides in pole positions to pick the two tickets available for the zone in the main championship coming up later in the year. ABC Basket Club of Cote d’Ivoire are also contending for a ticket, having won their first two games.
Action continues today in Day 3 of the qualifiers with Hoopers taking on ABC. Swallows and NPA Pythons will be searching for their first win, while Pillars go to war against UHURU Kings in the last match of the day.
