Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, has concluded a stakeholders’ forum on wards delineation and creation of additional polling units in the state.

The forum which started on 21 June, 2010 came to an end at Mushin Local Government Area, Lagos State, Nigeria with people of the area also demanding for more wards and polling units.

Justice Afolabi Abdulfatai Adeyinka (retd), Chairman of the commission, said the forum was organised to consider the views of the electorate on what is on ground and what ought to be in terms of wards and polling units in the state.

Adeyinka described the creation of additional wards and unit as necessary, adding that it could only be done after the technical committee on the forum had presented its outcome to the appropriate quarters for necessary action.

Mr. Musibau Oyefeso, the commission’s director of logistics, said the outcome of the exercise would enable those who had been disenfranchised in the past the opportunity to perform their civic responsibility.

He reaffirmed that the exercise would make voting more easy for the electorate, as they will not need to travel long distance before casting their votes.
