5 Teenagers Docked

Five teenagers, Ibrahim Muritala, 18, Ibrahim Kazeem, 18, Olawale Ogungbe, 18, Eyebioakin Babatunde, 19 and Tajudeen Nasiru, 20 have been docked at the Ogudu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, Nigeria, for street fighting.

The prosecutor, ASP Eyo Owai, in a four-count charge alleged that they conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace, fighting in the public and assaulting one Ahmed by stabbing him on his head and neck with broken bottles.

Owai disclosed further that the victim was still in the hospital as at the time of the arraignment.

The offences were allegedly committed on 29 October, 2010 at L and K Junction, Oworonshoki, Lagos State and punishable under sections 249(d), 83, 355, 80 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 32C., Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

When the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty and the trial magistrate, Mrs. B. F. Williams granted them bail in the sum of N10,000 each with one surety each in like sum.

The magistrate directed that the sureties must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The case has been adjourned till 26 November, 2010 for mention.
