A tanker driver on Sunday morning lost control at Costain Roundabout, Iganmu, Lagos, and destroyed several vehicles, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
No, casualty was, however, recorded in the accident, which occurred at about 9. 25Â a.m.
An eyewitness told NAN that the empty tanker with registration no. XT 470 SMK, belonging to AP-Seriki Petroleum Nigeria Ltd., was negotiating the roundabout when the accident occurred.
The tanker seriously damaged at least five cars, the witness said.
He said that the tanker driver reportedly alerted motorists and commuters of a brake failure by tooting his horn before ramming into an automobile mechanic workshop.
“The driver, in an attempt to scare motorists and passengers as he approached the roundabout on the way to Orile-Iganmu, ran into the workshop.
“A Peugeot 206 saloon car with registration no. CU 880 KTU was hit by the tanker before it broke through the workshop’s fence and damaged four other cars parked there,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the accident caused traffic jam for several hours before officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) and policemen removed the tanker.
