The Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, has empowered its members through a poverty alleviation and empowerment programme held at the OPC secretariat, Agodo, Ikotun, Lagos.
Speaking at the occasion, president/founder of the OPC, Dr. Fredrick Fasehun, said the OPC in collaboration with Unity Bank and Imperial Finance and Securities Limited  put in place measures necessary to fight poverty.
He added that they are giving out motorcycles, tricycles and loans to lift its members out of joblessness and poverty.
Also speaking, the vice president of the OPC, Otunba Kazeem Badmus, said the gesture is not for members in Lagos State alone, as they would be taking the empowerment programme to all the South Western states and other states where the OPC exists.
“It is to show that the OPC is a responsible organisation with good plans for its members,” Badmus said.
OPC members were also implored to embrace the opportunity given to them to insure themselves against poverty, while the families of Mr. Gafari Oyesoga, who died in active service were presented a cheque of N180,000. Badmus appealed to the members to always remain peaceful.
