The regent of Mowo town in Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, High Chief Philip Akinola Ajose, has appealed to the state government to compensate victims of fire outbreaks in the town caused by a fuel laden tanker which suddenly skidded off the road and rammed into several vehicles due to the deplorable state of the road.
The traditional ruler made the appeal during a special prayer held at the spot of the incident to avert recurrence of the incident in the area.
Chief Ajose disclosed that the inferno left one person dead, while several others suffered life threatening injuries and 25 vehicles burnt beyond recognition as a result of the accident.
According to him, the accident could have been averted if the road had been in good condition, adding, “it is in view of this that I passionately appeal to the state government to assist those affected with relief materials.â€
The monarch commended the governor for fulfilling his campaign promises to the electorate through provision of basic social amenities including expansion of Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Ajose also pleaded for the construction of Agemowo road with drainage on both sides, saying that it will prevent flooding in the area.
He thanked the monarch of Iberekoland, Oba Israel Adewale Okoya, for making sure the fire victims get some compensation. He also urged his subjects to continue to support the government by paying their taxes promptly.
