Hoodlums invaded the female students Hostel 2,  in Anwai Campus of the Delta State  University, Asaba and raped some female students of the institution over the  weekend..

The rapists gained access into the hostel armed with gun and machetes and took turns  to rape the girls.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the female students were violently woken up from their sleep  when the hoodlums stormed the hostel, breaking windows and doors with guns and  machetes and shooting into the air to scare people away from the vicinity before  overpowering the students and raping them for several hours.

The rapists were said to be about eight. Although the students put up some  resistance, they were no match for the hoodlums.

The number of students that were raped could not be ascertained as most of the  victims wanted to protect their image and their names.

However, the Dean, Students Affairs of the school, Mr. Donald  F.,  debunked the  claims of the students as untrue.

He said  the attackers were not rapists but hoodlums who invaded the school with  intent to steal and that some of the invaders might be lovers of the female students  who took  advantage of the night to visit their female friends.

However, one of the victims who does not want her name mentioned, insisted that the  rapists were not their friends.

The police spokesman for Delta State, ASP Charles Muka declined to comment on the  incident, saying the matter had not been reported to the police.

He also said some of the students need to change their lifestyle to prevent them  from falling  victims of  vile men in the society.

This is not the first time rapists would storm the female hostel. The last time they  came visiting, they reportedly macheted the security guard on duty and carted away  some school property.

And because of the easy access into the school compound, the criminals had a field  day while terrorising the students.
