Fire this morning gutted the AIT office in Kano State, located on 15E Murtala Mohammed Way on the 6th floor of Malam Ishiaku Rabiu House.
The fire started at about 7.40 a.m. while the station was transmitting.
According to a source from the station, smoke started billowing from the studio while transmission was on and within a few minutes, fire engulfed the whole studio.
All the equipment in the studio were destroyed. No life was, however, lost in the incident.
The fire did not spread to other buildings.
Alhaji Abdulmalik Addy, Head of AIT in Kano confirmed the story to P.M.NEWS and described the fire as unfortunate.
Thirty minutes after the distress call, the fire service men came in and succeeded in stopping the fire from spreading to other floors.
The police have also commenced investigation into the fire incident.
The corporate affairs manager of the company, Mr. Johnson Onime, also confirmed the incident, saying: “It was one incident too many.â€
He declined to comment on the cause of the fire.
The Abuja office of the organisation was recently gutted by fire with equipment worth millions of naira destroyed.
Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, the Chairman of Daar Communications, owners of AIT and Raypower radio is currently the campaign coordinator of General Ibrahim Babangida (retd.) who is gunning for the country’s presidency in 2011.
