The case of a wrongful termination of appointment filed by the former company Secretary of African Petroleum, AP, Mrs. Elizabeth Igigbe against the chairman of the company, Mr. Femi Otedola and the company itself, has been adjourned till 5 November for a settlement or hearing of the substantive suit.
When the matter was mentioned this morning before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, the AP lawyer, Lawal Rabana, SAN, sought for adjournment as there are ongoing discussions for out-of-court settlement.
Mrs. Igigbe’s lawyer, Abubakar Samsondeen, told the court that his principal, Mr. Ricky Tarfa, SAN, has received the letter seeking adjournment and they have agreed to come to court either for settlement or hearing of the suit.
Consequently, the presiding judge, Justice Okechukwu Okeke adjourned the matter till 5 November, 2010.
AP’s former company secretary, whose appointment was terminated during the company’s crisis, sued AP and its chairman for damages.
