A pilgrim from Gombe State died on Tuesday in Medina, Saudi Arabia after a brief illness.
The Head of Nigerian Mission Alhaji Musa Isa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Medina that the middle-aged man took ill and was rushed to the hospital where he died.
He said the family of the deceased would be notified before the name would be released.
He advised pilgrims with severe medical conditions to report to the Mission’s offices in Mecca and Medina.
“We have a good medical team on ground to deal with any medical situation and refer more serious cases to hospital,” he said.
Isa advised pilgrims who had been diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension but failed to carry their drugs to meet the medical team for medication.
Musa said the Mission had also set up a search and rescue unit to assist pilgrims who missed their way in the Holy Land.
