As part of efforts to attract fans to watch the finals of the 10th Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan, Lagos, Nigeria, one of the sponsors, Etisalat Nigeria, has concluded plans to give out some gifts to the spectators who grace the grand finale this weekend.
The finals of the two-week old competition comes up on Saturday, 30 October.
According to the management of the telecommunication outfit, fans are expected to win Double Sim phones and Etisalat Blackberry phones through raffle draws that will be conducted on the day of the finals.
Commenting on the gesture of Etisalat to reward fans with gifts, the tournament director, Prince Wale Oladunjoye, said: “the aim of the raffle draws is to attract fans to the venue on the final day so that they will have the opportunity to be part of the historic event, where emerging top stars converge on Lagos to display their God-given talents.â€
Eligible to participate in the raffle draws are mainly fans who come to the venue to watch the finals of the Men and Women’s Singles on Saturday, while those who are directly involved and benefited from the competition are not eligible to take part.
“To make sure that the target people win the gifts, we’ve decided to exempt the players, referees, ball boys, LOC members, NTF officials and journalists from participating in the raffle draws.
“As each fan gets to the venue of the grand final, he should pick a ticket which entitles him to qualify for the raffle draws,†said Oladunjoye, who is also the Senior Special Assistant on Grassroots Sports Development to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola.
