One of the aspirants to the Lagos State House of Assembly in Agege Constituency 1 running on the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Bamidele Akinsuli, has assured the people of his constituency of a cleaner environment if elected as the flag bearer of the party in the next general elections.
He made this known last week, when he led members of his campaign team on environmental awareness tour of some streets in his constituency after a heavy downpour.
Akinsuli said the issue of the environment is paramount to him, the people of his constituency as well as Lagos State in general, especially during rainy season.
He was of the view that most streets in his constituency are always flooded, posing a major concern to all residents of Agege and the reason for leading his campaign team on the tour to experience the challenges and how it affects the people.
According to him, the issue of flooding can collectively be avoided if the residents can stop throwing waste in the drainage to allow for free flow and ensure that environmental cleanliness is a responsibility of all in order to complement the efforts of the local and state governments.
He, however, assured the residents of Moricas, Awori and Taiwo Dada streets in Ward D that his campaign team will from time to time join hands with them to clear the canal there, which has been a major problem to them till date.
He also told them that the forthcoming voters’ registration exercise is an opportunity for them to express their voices because that is the only way a credible candidate can be elected into a position of authority.
Responding on behalf of the residents, Mr. Victor Shofoluwe and Alhaji Abanikanda, appreciated the step taken by the aspirant by identifying with one of the major issues facing the people during the rainy season.
They assured him of their support, while reminding him of the need to keep to his promise and find a lasting solution to the issue of flood issue in the area if elected.
