22nd October, 2010
For seven days, the city of Lagos was agog as top Nigerian and international artistes took their turns to perform at the 2010 edition of Felabration held inside the New Afrika Shrine.
As soon as the show kicked off, it was celebration galore as top Nigerian music stars including King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal a.k.a. K-1 De Ultimmate, internationally acclaimed Makossa king, Awilo Logomba, Seun Anikulapo-Kuti, D’Banj and Mohit All Stars, Sasha, Stella Monye, Kennis Music All Stars led by Kenny St. Brown and others, thrilled fans to lots of fun as they went into the archives, bringing out old and new songs to the admiration of those present.
It was also an event where some of those that performed showed their dexterity in terms of showmanship and popularity and while some big music stars showed humility, some others demonstrated utter arrogance.
Awilo, K-1 and Kennis Music boss, among others, expressed humility, while the likes of the Don Jazzy-led team including D-banj and Prince, stormed the Shrine with mobile policemen and over 10 bouncers who were somehow rude to those at the back stage and the Shrine’s security personnel.
Journalists were not spared as one of the bouncers prevented P.M. Entertainment’s reporter from taking Don Jazzy’s photograph.
All the same, the Mohit All Stars had a nice show.
As for the organisers, they did a good job in terms of planning and execution, quality of performing artistes and other things, but in spite of the tight security, the crowd control was not too perfect as it was survival of the fittest at the gate. But there was no casualty.
