President Goodluck Jonathan today visited the flooded area of Isheri-Oke, Ogun State, where residents have been groaning under the effects of River Ogun which overflowed its bank. The water was discharged from Oyan Dam.
From Isheri-Oke, Jonathan travelled by a speed boat to the dam, managed by  Ogun-Oshun River Basin Development Authority, Abeokuta.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS this morning, Ogun State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Sina Kawomise, disclosed that the president visited the state to assess the extent of damage.
The commissioner said Jonathan has promised to take steps to alleviate the sufferings of those affected by the flood.
He urged the residents to have confidence in government because they will be adequately compensated as promised by the president.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, where the president is expected to visit tonight for a dinner with field officers and state coordinators of Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation in the South West states.
Notable politicians across the zone, party leaders, artisans and victims of the flood attended the reception organised in honour of the president, both in Isheri-Oke and Abeokuta.
