Amuwo Odofin Festival Foundation added glamour to Traditional Games as the residents thronged the 3rd Traditional Draughts and Rams Charging competitions staged at Festac Town recently.
The game started on a bright note with Ayo-Olopon attracting spectactors’s attention.
Sunday Adeniyi from Oriade Local Council Development Area,defeated Thomas Alonge from Festac, while Comrade Kola Bamgbola from Oriade LCDA placed third.
The game of cards dragged on for long but Olarenwaju Olusanya from Festac defeated Ibukun Olunloyo also from Festac as Gbemi Durosinmi Oriade fought courageously to beat Adeyemi Olagoke of Festac 2-1 for third place.
The draughts match lasted for hours, pitching experienced Lawrence Edun against Oluwatoyin Akinwola from Festac who eventually slumped, both from Oriade to contend for third and fourth positions.
In the Rams Charging game, Nokia coming from Agboju in Oriade LCDA, looked too strong to be handled by other rams as he charged ferociously to reduce all challengers to mere pretenders.
He won the prize money of N25,000, while Hammer from Festac and Etirinkankan from Waterside in Oriade LCDA went home with N10,000.
In all, over 30 rams took part in the Rams Charging game.
Earlier in the day, memory games like Ten-Ten, Suwe and rope skipping took place among the Festac youth pioneers, who came in large number to the gathering.
