The Alagodo of Agodo Kingdom in Alimosho Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, Oba Mudashiru Odejobi and the descendants of Kudaki and Akeja have warned Mr. Ashimiyu Olorunfemi to desist from further publication and circulation of his version of the history of the Igbe, now Egbe.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS, Odejobi said the said publication is not only disjointed and distorted but misleading as it is spiced with outright falsehood. He added that Ashimiyu is not qualified to write the history of Egbe.
The monarch recalled that on 24 December, 2006, Ashimiyu then the Executive Secretary of Egbe-Idimu LCDA, hosted Apena of Egbe, Chief Modiu Liasu; Head of Kudaki and Akeja, Alani Liasu; Oba of Agodoland, Mudashiru Odejobi; Olorogun of Egbe, Ayinde Balogun; Otun Oba of Agodo, Chief Makadz Liasu; Ayinna Bello and Samsideen Sado at Iris Hotel where he pleaded with them to support his bid to become the Elegbe. The stool became vacant after the death of Elegbe Oresan 1.
According to Oba Odejobi, on that day, he reminded his chiefs that they shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that Ashimiyu will use government apparatus to foist himself on the throne with or without their support as he was then the Executive Secretary of the local council and a strong politician.
Three days after Ashimiyu’s installation as the Elegbe, thugs invaded the ruling house of Chief Lamina Liasu, Anigilaje of Egbe and sacked his entire household.
Putting the records straight, Oba Odejobi said: “Akeja family had been in existence since the 17th century and Kudaki came much later and they were friends. Because deities brought along by Kudaki had an offensive odour, Akeja allocated another place to him”.
Speaking further, Odejobi said, “Ashimiyu’s father, Mr. Olorunfemi, hails from Idogo in Ogun State.
“Ashimiyu’s mother, Morin, was the last wife of Kudaki, and this does not qualify him to ascend the throne. We are the real direct descendants of Kudaki and Akeja and Ashimiyu Olorunfemi is what we knew his name to be, but because of his obaship declaration, he changed it to Dada Otta.
We are appealing to the state governor, Barrister Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, to use his good offices and caution Ashimiyu to stop circulating information, they claimed are not only fictitious but could cause another Ife/Modakeke episode. Ashimiyu could not be reached as at the press time.
