Chief Safuratu Ogundipe, a water goddess priest in charge of Odo Iya Alaro in Ojota, Lagos State, has told the Babatunde Fashola-led administration in the state, that the only way to stem the menace of floods currently ravaging some parts of the state is to appease the gods by offering sacrifices.
In a letter written to the governor and his deputy and received on their behalf by Fashola’s Chief of Staff recently, the priest popularly called Iya Alaro, stated that what caused the flooding of places like Ajegunle Ikorodu, Ajegunle Apapa, Makoko and other places in the state was that government refused to heed her earlier call for sacrifices to appease the water goddess over the years.
According to her, similar warning was given during the Raji Rasaki-led military administration in the state, which was equally rebuffed.
She, however, commiserated with the flood victims across the state, saying she will continue to support the state government and pray for its success at all times.
