Court Remands Man In Prison

A man,Thomas Dada, 27 who allegedly assaulted a lady identified only as Kudirat, has been  remanded in prison custody on the order of an Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court.

The accused was alleged to have slapped Kudirat and tore her clothes for snobbing his  advances.

The incident happened at their residence, 48, Imesan Compound, Egan, in the outskirts of  Lagos.

Kudirat reported the assault at the Igando Police Station and the accused was arrested  and charged before the court.

The offence, according to the police prosecutor, is contrary to Section 356 of the  Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol.2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

When the charge was read to him, Thomas pleaded not guilty and the presiding magistrate,  Mrs.S.O. Solebo granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

He was ordered to be remanded in prison custody at Apapa because he could not meet the

bail conditions and the matter was adjourned till 27 October, 2010 for hearing.
