A security guard, Abdulazeez Embugushiki, 24, and two others Suleimon Isah, 27, Abu Sanni, 26 have been charged with theft at the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Isheri-Oke, Lagos State.
The police in a six-count charge alleged that on 6 and 7 August, 2010 at 5A, Eunice College Close, Gbagada, the accused conspired to commit felony, to wit stealing.
The police also alleged that they stole one Kia-Rio Saloon car valued at N2.5 million, HP laptop computers valued at N600,000 and the sum of N50,000, all valued at N3.45 million, properties of a company, Drakinas Nigeria Ltd.
Suleimon Isah was charged with receiving a stolen car while Abu Sanni was charged with being in possession of some quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
According to the police, the offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 516, 390, 413, 461, 427 and 428 of the Criminal Code, Cap 31 Vol. ii, laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003. When the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty. The trial magustreate, Mrs. M. I. Dan-Oni admitted each of them to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in the like sum who must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government.
The case was adjourned till 13 October, 2010 for mention.
