A hotel attendant, Sunday Efifeneme, 34, has been arrested by the police at Ikotun Division, Lagos, southwest Nigeria for allegedly stealing N98,000 belonging to his employer, Godwin Umugworo.
Sunday, an attendant at 7UP Hotel, Ikotun, Lagos was alleged to have stolen the money belonging to his employer and went into hiding, but police started a manhunt for him and he was arrested at his hideout in Ijegun. He was later charged to Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court for stealing.
The offence according to the police was contrary to Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 2 laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004.
When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with one responsible surety in the like sum. The surety, the court ordered, must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. S. O. Solebo, adjourned till 18 October, 2010 while he was remanded in Kirikiri Prison, Apapa, Lagos, as he could not meet the bail conditions.
