Now that the rains are going, resident of Dopemu, in Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria have called on both the state and local government to come to their aid by rehabilitating the roads in the community.
Speaking at his 9th coronation anniversary, Chief S.A. Afogunlowo, the traditional ruler of Dopemu, who also conferred chieftaincy titles on eminent dignitaries in the community, thanked both the local and state governments for all they have done for the community. He, however, said that like Oliver Twist, they are asking for more.
He thanked Governor Babatunde Fashola for his unique style of leadership and urged him to collaborate with the council boss, Abdul Kareem Ayodeji in the rehabilitation of roads in the community because some of them have become so bad that they are almost unpassable, while vehicles keep breaking down due to the effect of the bad roads on them.
The traditional ruler also pleaded that Baales should be better treated, just like the Oba and white cap chiefs in Lagos as this will assure the traditional title holders that they are also part of government, apart from making life better for them.
Chief Afogunlowo also appealed to the council boss to hasten the completion of the mini health centre and provide more boreholes to enable residents have access to drinking water. He added that his community would continue to support both the local government and the state.
