A former Chairman of Oto-Ijanikin Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, South West Nigeria and now a member of the National Assembly, Cornelius Ojelabi, has called on security agents to clamp down on the perpetrators of the dastardly act on Nigeria’s 50th Independence anniversary celebration in Abuja.
Ojelabi condemned the wicked act in its entirety, describing the perpetrators as enemies of the country, who chose to discredit the whole nation before international communities on such a unique occasion.
The lawmaker representing Ojo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, sympathised with the families of victims of the bomb blasts and called on Nigerians to be resolute and positive in the face of the ugly development.
According to him, “the Federal Government has directed security operatives to unravel those behind the bomb blasts and I assure you that the perpetrators would not go unpunished. This is the time for our security operatives to prove their professional competence by bringing to book, the people behind the evil act, †while also praying for that the Lord grants the families of the dead victims the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Meanwhile, the former council chief has reiterated his commitment to the continuous service to his constituents.
He noted that he had always given priority to the fulfilment of his promises since he was voted to represent the people at the National Assembly barely three years ago.
“When I asked you to send me to Abuja the other time, I promised you high quality representation in all ramifications. Today, apart from projecting Ojo Federal Constituency positively at the national level, we have succeeded in attracting federal presence to our area in the various segments of development,†he said, while promising to continue with the programmes that would affect the lives of the people positively through a variety of socioeconomic development projects.
